This measure shows the financial needs in a community and the reliance of individuals on the government for basic support.

How is the Greater Capital Region performing?

The Greater Capital Region received about $1,650 per resident in 2006, above the national number but considerably lower than the state level. This was up 21% since 2000, a rate of increase similar to the nation's and state's. Payments were highest in Schenectady County, at more than $2,000 per resident in 2006, and lowest in Saratoga County, at just over $1,000.
