The average number of students attending secondary school each day, divided by the total number of students. Secondary students are defined as those in seventh through twelfth grades.
Youths who do not regularly attend school are at higher risk of failing and dropping out, exhibiting delinquent behavior and engaging in various forms of risky behaviors.
Secondary attendance was 94% in 2007 among regional students, 4 points higher than the state. Regional rates have hovered between 93% and 94% since 2000, while state rates ranged from 88% to 90%.
