The Capital Region Community Profile, sponsored by United Way of the Greater Capital Region, examines data and trends from a variety of government and other sources to illuminate the state of the region’s economy and educational system, explore the condition of families and youths, and identify the complex challenges facing our communities.

This web-based Community Profile includes five counties and more than 70 indicators organized under four impact areas identified by United Way of the Greater Capital Region as priorities for this region: basic needs, family supports, financial stability and literacy.

For each impact area, we have included an indicator, a brief analysis of trends, charts displaying trends over time, and tables providing data for each county in the Greater Capital Region. A regional overview, which highlights findings from the four main sections, is also provided.

This project builds on two prior studies conducted in the area: The 2001 Profile of Community-Wide Outcomes in Albany, Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties and the 2003 Schenectady County Profile.

The Center for Governmental Research (CGR) collected and analyzed the data for the project.
